UN Sustainable Development Goals Report 2018: The rate of global progress is not keeping pace with the ambitions of the Agenda

The global progress is not keeping pace with the ambitions of the Agenda 2030, necessitating immediate and accelerated action by countries and stakeholders at all levels, – says Sustainable Development Goals Report 2018.

The Report is based latest data on selected indicators of the global SDG framework developed by the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on SDG Indicators (IAEG-SDGs) and adopted by the General Assembly on 6 July 2017 in resolution 71/313. The Study overeviews the progress and remaining gaps for all 17 SDGs. In addition, it examines some of the interlinckages across Goals and targets to reaveal the reasons for a backlash in progress on achieving the SDGs. Among them are civil conflicts and climate change, which cause the displacement of people and competition for natural resources and increase in hunger.

After a prolonged decline, the number of undernourished people rose from 777 million in 2015 to 815 million in 2016.
