What’s Your Anatomy of Action?

UN Environment and The UnSchool of Disruptive Design have developed an action plan for every individual to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. #AnatomyofAction is a practical and handy evidence-based action kit that supports individuals in taking action through their “15 ways in 15 days challenge.” The challenge highlights five key lifestyle changes that any individual can make to contribute to the global shift towards sustainability. They include: food, stuff, move, money and fun.

The project conducted an extensive review of the scientific data on what actions, when taken individually and accumulated across the globe, can and will have positive impacts on the health and sustainability of our planet. What makes it unique is that it is registered under Creative Commons Attributional License 4.0. This means that all of the content they’ve created is available to anyone to use. Schools, businesses and institutions are encouraged to adapt and incorporate the content in a way that fits best. In the guidance note published on the #AnatomyofAction website, users are encouraged to “adapt: remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.”

“Ultimately, if we all change the way we eat and buy, how we invest money and move, and what we do for fun and aspirations, we can change how our world works for a better future.”

The founders of the movement “work to promote sustainable leadership and living through uniquely disruptive approaches to activating change.” As part of the wider ambition to activate communities, SDWatch has joined these organizations and others (including the Milan based organization Diciassette) in their efforts to create awareness and generate positive changes in consumption.

How to take part:

Pick one action or a set of them and share how you are taking or will take action (you can find the actions below)

Officially the challenge runs from the 15th – 30th of September but incorporating these changes into everyday routines is relatively effortless. The list is also by no means exhaustive and there are many other ways that individuals can make a difference. The idea is to foster individual changes that can be replicated by many to help change the local and global economy.
