Al Otro Lado and VECINA have banded together to launch a pilot program for pro bono attorneys interested in representing asylum seekers subject to the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), also referred to as the “Remain in Mexico” program. Since the implementation of MPP, thousands of immigrants have been denied entry to the United States and forced to wait in Mexico without access to stable shelter to await court hearings.
You don’t have to be an immigration attorney to make a difference and fight back against this unjust program. In fact, this opportunity is for attorneys with little or no immigration experience!
Al Otro Lado will identify clients in need of counsel with cases heard in the San Diego Immigration Court. Once you agree to take the case, you will be placed with a VECINA expert mentor to guide you every step of the way.
